Tournament Rules

1. MISREPRESENTATION

Players who enter under a false name or who do not disclose beach ratings will be immediately disqualified and are subject to a permanent ban from the tournament. Players may be required to provide identification upon request of the committee.

2. SUBSTITUTIONS

Players may not make any unauthorized substitutions, even if for only one game. Players may not trade partners, even with a consenting team. All no-shows must be reported to the committee tent (when called for) at which time a replacement player will be assigned to your team (see below). Persons caught violating these rules forfeit all games played and may be barred from the tournament.

3. NO-SHOWS

When you report to your court, mark an X by your name on the pool sheet so others will know you are there. When the announcement is made requesting pools to report no-shows, IF you have one or more missing players, please do the following:

a. For all teams with missing single players – the other (present) player goes to the committee tent with the pool sheet! A new partner will be assigned.

b. For missing teams (both players from the same team) – the pool captain (who is Player 1/Team 1 by default – or your pool may elect someone) brings the pool sheet to the committee tent. Your pool may or may not get a replacement team.

c. When there are both missing singles players AND missing teams – the pool captain designates one of the players who has a missing partner to bring the pool sheet to the committee tent. Make sure the pool sheet clearly states ALL who are missing.

4. POOL SHEET

It is the responsibility of the WINNING TEAM to turn in the pool sheet to the committee tent when pool play has concluded.

5. CVBA RULES

Some of the rules to remember: one toss per serve; block counts as a touch; no “double” on first contact.

6. SCORING

Games are played rally scoring to 25, win by one (first to 25 wins.) Keep track of your wins and your points on the pool sheet. It is not necessary to play the games in the order shown on the pool sheet so long as all games are eventually played.

7. TIES

Ties between teams will be broken in the following order:

a. For two teams tied – head-to-head points.

b. For three teams tied – total points “for” among the three tied teams.

c. Total points “for” vs. points “against” among all pool games played.

d. Coin flip

8. PLAYOFFS

The two top teams from each pool will advance to a single elimination tournament on Sunday. All playoff teams should be ready to play by 8:30 Sunday morning. Listen for your team name and court assignment to be announced on the loudspeakers. There will also be a playoff bracket at the committee tent for your reference. If your team is not ready to play within ten minutes, you will forfeit. After ten minutes, if your opponents have not arrived, report it to the committee tent. There will be no changes once the round has advanced.

9. TRASH

PLEASE CLEAN UP YOUR AREA OF THE BEACH WHEN YOU ARE DONE!

Note: The committee retains the right to change the rules at any time before the start of the tournament each year.
